Beringea Portfolio Company Zenith Entertainment re-commissioned to produce second series of King Arthur's Disasters

23 May 2005 - CiTV has commissioned a second series of the highly entertaining animation King Arthur's Disasters from Beringea portfolio company Zenith Entertainment. Julian Scott, Zenith's Head of Children's Drama and Animation, also announced a pan-European deal with Cartoon Network that will see the first series broadcast in France, Benelux and Russia.

Following the success of series one, the 13 new half-hour episodes will continue the madcap adventures of King Arthur, his trusty friend Merlin, the manipulative Princess Guinevere and the narcissistic Sir Lancelot. It is expected that the series will be delivered in September 2006 and that the original cast of Rik Mayall, Matt Lucas, Morwenna Banks and Phil Cornwell will be on board.

Commenting on the recommission, Julian Scott said, "We're delighted with the audience response to King Arthur's Disasters. A second season commissioned so early in the transmission run is very good news. We put a lot into Zenith's animation drive and it's paying off. It's wonderful to see homegrown animation performing so well."

Stuart Veale, Managing Director at Beringea added "We're very pleased that Zenith have managed to secure a second series of this entertaining animation. Together with the sale of the first series to Cartoon Network in Europe, this is further evidence of Zenith's ability to produce programmes which are successful from both a creative and a commercial point of view.

King Arthur's Disasters, based on an original idea by Paul Parkes and Will Ashurst, is currently airing on CiTV on Mondays at 3.55pm and is regularly bringing in an audience share of 20-21%.
